In an exclusive interview with O País, EDM’s new PCA, Aly Sicola, revealed that it already has plans to improve the quality of energy in the country. Sicola has been called into the top leadership of EDM after the company reported losses of $ 50 million in 2018 and one of the actions it has taken to reverse the situation is to introduce smart electric meters as a way to avoid the annual losses of 100 million dollars. dollars.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors also says that the debts of public institutions and Zambia with Electricidade de Moçambique suffocate the company’s accounts.

And because the Government has demanded from the new EDM strongman the improvement of energy in Mozambique, Aly Sicola says he already has a plans, divided into emergency, short and long term plans. With emergency funds costing US $ 162 million already being mobilized by the National Investment Bank.

Aly Sicola’s administration in Electricidade de Moçambique will be based on the implementation of the Energy for All Program, reinforcement of the country’s energy transmission networks and the diversification of energy production sources.
